Grandchildren

Grandchildren are a special breed

They bring us joy, which we surely need

They look at us with their eyes open wide

Sharing their thoughts that they keep inside

Your hair is nice, but why is it gray?

That shirt is old, it's starting to fray?

The sun is warm, why is it so?

I'd like an ice cream, please can we go?

Their thoughts go in, their thoughts go out

Sometimes they're enough to make us shout

Although we hold it back not to be a grump

And hope one doesn't catch us in a slump

Why are there dogs, cats, and birds?

Who was it that invented words?

How come I have eyes that make me see?

OOPS, I've got to run, I have to pee!

We hate to admit we sometimes tire

And need a rest before we expire

But their love for us makes us go on

Then their eyes light up and more questions spawn

Why does it snow?

How come flowers grow?

Why do bees sting?

And how do birds sing?

This time we share I cherish the most

For when I'm with my friends I surely boast

My stories go on, I don't let them rest

Cause to me my grandchild is the best

I enjoyed this one. I just welcomed my third grandchild.

This reminds me of my
grandchild, she is the
