THE FIRST TEAR DROP

THE FIRST TEAR DROP

‘Shedding tears’ is nothing new;

‘Coz, I am used to;

‘Am highly volatile and quite emotional;

So, dropping tears is nothing significant.

Nevertheless this tear drop, I brand;

As the ‘First Tear Drop’!

As it means so much to me;

And hurts me to the core!

The brave face that I put up,

Is deflated like a tyre; and

Shrunk like a balloon; as

I’ve been told ‘I am not needed anymore’!

Never did I volunteer to have you,

When you bewitched me to have you!

Or accepted your damn offer!

Could you just dump me like garbage!

Don’t know how I cried; and

Got my tears out; and

For what reasons as I was born!

Still tears continued to flood my eyes!

Never did I bother about the tears of that sort!

As they were like emotional outbursts!

But, I do bother about the poking pain of this sort!

As I am ditched and dumped by you!

Author's Notes/Comments:

Everyone sheds tears, may be for different reasons.  That's a routine in life and I don't attach any significance to it. But when you feel and shed a tear drop because of 'a let down' especially when someone offers you something and withdraws ditching you, it matters then.  That's what I refer to as the 'First Tear Drop'.

A word of

"The soul would have no rainbows if the eyes shed no tears".  I haven't heard this saying before. And for the first time you have given me. Thanks.  It's amazing that such a fabulous saying with a deep inner meaning exists!  I take it and grab it with both hands.

Tears are cleansing. There is

Tears are cleansing. There is a native American saying, "The soul would have no rainbows if the eyes shed no tears". I have always loved that saying. Your poem brings this to mind for me. Tears have assisted human beings through the aeons of time to sustain a vital human quality of which we call 'compassion'. Beautiful, Ben.

...and he asked her, "do you write poetry? Because I feel as if I am the ink that flows from your quill."

"No", she replied, "but I have experienced it. "
