If given a wish
I would wish one thing.
That he may love me more than
the flowers love the spring.
If only he would love me more each day,
even when the bills are hard to pay.
If only he may love me
with the depth that has no end
for than my heart may sore and
never again desend.
If only he may gaze at my aging face,
then wisper "I love you" in a tight embrace.
If only he may find me whenever I'm lost
and if love were money he would spare no cost.
This is my prayer of secret bliss,
But if only I was given just one wish.
Our yearnings, longings and dreamful wishes make us humane enough to be called human: Just listen to Patricia in these moving lines: "If only he may gaze at my aging face, then whisper "I love you" in a tight embrace. If only he may find me whenever I'm lost and if love were money he would spare no cost. If only he may love me with the depth that has no end..." These are touching, metaphoric lines that define our humanity and essence within the breath of our yearnings. This is very refreshing and uplifting for me. Let us then dream because, in dreaming and wishing we face reality. This is a thought-provoking piece! Thank you so much, Patricia, for letting humanity know your: "Secret Wish List"! because within its heart, we all find and embrace our yearning humaneness! Ugonna
