I started seeing things ever so clear,
It's like looking at yourself for the first time in a mirror.
For life is a reflection of all my past sins.
I saw a loser that never wins.
It takes a strong mind to take a good look
At all the roads I should have took,
How do I find the road the wins,
When I keep repeating the same old sins?
The moment one comes to this healing self-realization, one is then truely free - in a purgative sense, one becomes humane enough to be called human, if I may put it this way, contextually. In "Reflections", Patricia, in her own humbling, unique style of poetic expression lets humankind realize that: "It takes a strong mind to take a good look At all the roads I should have took...' And in a moving; but thought provoking, rhetorical metaphor so powerful in its manner of rendition, Patricia echoes: "How do I find the road that wins, When I keep repeating the same old sins?" These moving lines remind me of one of my poems titled: THE ROAD: Thank you so much, Paty, for letting us have "Reflections"! Ugonna
Liked this most: "How do I find the road that wins/ When I keep repeating the same old sins?" Thanks for sharing. Salam..
Patty, This beautiful and so true. I could relate! Ali
