Daddy Come Home

 Daddy where are you,

Can you hear me call?

Will you dry my tears?

Or pick me up when I fall.

Daddy I miss you,

I want your embrace,

Not just a picture,

With a bleary face.

I want to see your smile,

When I win the race.

Not just the photo,

From a forgotten place.

I miss washing your back,

When you have a tub.

I miss your strong cuddles,

Like a lion cub.

I miss when you came home from work,

And I would remove your boots.

I miss all the joy you bring,

The laughter and the hoots.

I look at the moon late at night,

And pray you hear my call.

Can you hear me daddy?

Will you catch me when I fall?

I want to be with you,

Never to leave your side.

I want to hear your voice,

So these tears,

I won’t have to hide.

Do you really love me?

Do you care at all?

Will you come back for me?

And catch me when I fall?

Author's Notes/Comments:

This poem was written for my real father Sydney Galvin.
I found it hard as a child to deal with my parents seperation. But no matter how much it hurt me.My love for my father never changed. He will always be my hero.

wow.. no wonder you read my poem with tears in your eyes. i am sorry you have had to go through this as well. it is really weird that i got a critique from you on the piece about my dad, cause i was just thinking today whether or not i should try to contact him. this is a good piece, thank you for sharing it. it is hard sometimes to write out that kind of pain.

thanks for stopping by my poetry.. come back any time.

and thank you for sharing.
