I wrote for him
he sadly proclaimed
the poem he always
wanted to write
'Rose clippings,
Pearls And Gems'
formed from words
woven into thoughts
so subtly unashamed
mentally I sat back
entangled by such whim
what could I say
for his sadness to abate
so very carefully I chose
to speak from my
perplexed heart
sidestepping his fear
as I made my quiet
attempt
to hug his so disturbed soul
I succeeded I said
so be happy
accept this beauty you were
given
be not jealous of it's
innocent offer..........

Author's Notes/Comments:
A true story, not long ago I wrote a poem for a friend who was feeling down. Thinking this may cheer him up and make him feel better to see how beautifully I see him but shockingly enough it did the exact opposite. He gave me the impression rather than he was pleased about what I wrote of him and our friendship he was more so jealous of just how well i wrote the poem. His reaction frankly shocked me almost speechless and so I gave him a clipped little talk about being ungrateful and that he shouldn't throw my innocent gift back in my face like it was something disgusting given. He came back a few days later and sincerely apologised he was just feeling very low and couldn't see the beauty in my gift his jealousy over came that and he reacted to that. Makes me think of Echhardt Tolle's book A New Earth and how he talks of us being just Reflections bumping into others reflections. That in that moment really made so very much real sense to me I must confess.
very thought provoking
An excellent read all on is own, magnified ten fold by your explanation...such a diverse layering of thought..something to really generate my brain-sweat.Well done!

how earthy that seems to read............. thanks M.
