CHANNELING CUMMINGS (E.E. THAT IS)

Folder:
JOURNAL # 41

needle
pledge favor
to an iron tapestry
all vinegared up in rust
fledgling fowls scowl
flicking
their tiny scorched feet
wiser now
than the mist and damp
that came before
to vacate any prior kindness
afforded
from such a once noble post
to experienced flight riggers
a wearisome fly over
this problematic perch
to a clutch of tiny house finches
little better than a useless object
abandoned in the roadway
for all other cars to suspiciously
steer around............

Author's Notes/Comments:

This poem was inspired by a biography on E. E. Cummings that I began reading a few days ago and it exampled many a style of his and I was inspired to write this poem afte reading perhaps a fourth of the way through the book.

I wonder what biography of

I wonder what biography of Estlin Cummings this poet was reading.  Unfortunately, she passed away in 2016, so we cannot now inquire.  I am glad her poems are still part of postpoems.
