JOURNAL # 41

attitudes of opinion
valiantly defended
morality investigated
with a subtle hand
a miserly tolerance
thinly recommended
while far too many
castigate a world
under constant suspicion
politics antiquated
leave the living
exposed
to extreme views
and indeterminate circumstances
foisted onto them
by those failing to
evolve with their modernized
counterparts
religion if one is not careful
only limits the spiritual growth
so to contain it in a tiny box
of preset rules that allot little
room for expansion of thought
and change
inclusion as well
is a worthwhile tool
diversity has been proven
age after age to be a positive force
so spend your focus on the marriage of
our differences
and the offspring born of our in commons
shall flourish
for the people of the world
are more blessed, brighter and balanced
when they allow themselves to blend
its only true acceptance that makes community
so undeniably possible............

Author's Notes/Comments:

So many people find themselves in religion so terribly pigeon holed. They are susceptible to others detrimental views and this resorts in murderous rampage, destruction of society's fabric and such awful carnage. An eye for an eye man figured out long ago never works it just goes on and on leaving destruction piled up in its wake. The best revenge is to live ones life proudly with love and determination in the heart. Love thy enemies, pray for them. Forgive them lord for they know not what they do. I turn to those very words in each hour of crisis I happen upon.  I hope this poem reflects that.
