After Jack took all the pawnstore robbery money, he left Lynn in Chicago, and headed for San Francisco where he re-united with an old flame of his. He used the money to rent a small office and become a private investigator. His woman was his secretary, of sorts. She handled things like placing ads in papers, answering the phone, and doing any typing that might need to be done, even though she had to use the "hunt & peck" method of typing just as he would have to do.
