I took my yearbook from the drawer,
The date on which I'll pass,
And leafed through several pages
And enjoyed a hearty laugh.
Names I don't remember promised
Friendship ever true.
By then I guess I'd laughed so hard
I nearly skipped past you.
Until I saw those clear blue eyes
And the dimple in your chin,
And for a flashing moment
My head began to spin.
But just about the time I kissed
The words, "Forever Love",
And smiled at all the Xs--
Around, beside, above,
The banging of the front door,
Brought my husband bounding in,
So I just closed my old yearbook
And kissed his dimpled chin.
But all day long I've whistled,
And sung, and smiled and hummed,
At the love you gave me yesterday,
And the man that you've become.
It may have been 'pure fiction' but it sure was good. Something
we'd all like to imagine as true. I liked it. :)
This one is straight out of my own book! In my very first Bible I found a picture that I cut from a newspaper ages ago and complete forgot about. Boy, was I crazy about that teacher! That puppy love made going to school worth the effort and now years later still gives me a fuzzy feeling in the region of my heart!
