Litters of puppies scrambling around,
My baby's "milk-breath" coos,
The hardwood trees Daddy cut down,
Spring gardens in vibrant hues,
Watermelon pickles Grandma made,
The shaded swimming hole,
Walks in the woods with someone who cares,
Balm for my anguished soul,
A dress size smaller than the one I wear,
Tucking my boys in at night,
Someone to nourish, for whom to care,
The need for an angel nightlight,
I could go on forever it seems,
But I'd rather stop right here,
For I know I have more to be thankful for
Than the things that cause a shed tear.
This is beautiful, Jess. I relate to everything here but the dress size. I often wonder about what I will miss when my kids are grown up...I think it will be everything.
