Autumn's Song

Autumn's Song

Leaves keep F

                                                  G  to the ground.

Color shimmers all around.

Squirrels scamper from the trees,

Swishing softly through the leaves.

The breeze lifts brightly painted spots,

And turns them into W

Winter makes me stiff and cold.

Springtime woods are bright and bold.

Summer days are hot and long,

But Autumn haunts me all year long.

Splendid sensual delight! Clear-cut images with the power to stir the imagination until we, the readers, find ourselves walking upon fallen leaves, watching squirrels “scamper from the trees,” hearing the “swishing” of the leaves, and delighting in the shimmering hues of autumn. The visual arrangement is also a powerful instrument to help the reader visualize this beautiful word-painting of a soft, mellow season. Your poem is beautiful. One can really feel the autumn in spring. Thanks for sharing your beauty.

Well. Poetry. Style. Grace. I was beginning to believe that this no longer existed at postpoems. I enjoyed this infact, it's like catching your breath when you thought you were going down for the count. James
