Masquerade

I met an old friend in the mall

(Someone who doesn't know).

She said how happy that I looked,

Then turned around to go.

I stared at her as she walked on,

Then laughed to comprehend.

The pain I've hidden deep inside,

And no one sees within.

I made a pact with my own self

That even though I cry,

You'll never know my agony.

My face will tell a lie.

I have my pride--though little else.

I won't be some man's pawn.

You'll never know how much I hurt!

You'll never know you won.

HOw sad, awful ! Must have been disappointed, aint you ? I would have stood there, befuddled at this 'old' friend of mine ....wondering if she's the one i knew, or a stranger, or worst, a friend whom had forgotten me. Thanxs for sharing this.
