Love Hurts
‘Kiss me’ She said her eye blackened and red
Squeeze the life from me with your boot at my head
‘Hold me’ she whispered. Don’t fill me with dread
His answer was to slam the door instead
‘He loves me ’She said her eyes blackened and fleeting
To the door where he is now retreating,
After Years of abuse, her confidence seeping,
With each and every consecutive beating.
‘He’s under stress’ she coos as her twins suckle at her swollen breasts
‘He’s jealous, I must confess, I push him to do it, I wont let him rest’
Kiss me again on lips bloody and raw
She’s on her knees now, hugging the floor.
He screams as he enters ‘you bloody whore!’
‘He loves me she says’.
The indent of a fist adorns her cheek
So many scars his fury has wreaked.
Her eyes blackened and blind
Her fingers trembling
He doesn’t mean to be unkind
Make love to me caress my battered limbs
Her body shaking with fright
He surveys his art with demonic delight
Her body absorbs the punches again and again
Blood flowing like a tropical rain
Surprise me with kindness
But if you must, Then beat me your highness.
To protect the children and innocents
We must join together and stop the violence.
Good message poem, Gabs. Get the word out. If all of us just say, "No more!!" mayhaps bubbas like these will just go away. Good writing!! :)
