Snowflakes

It’s days like these

when the pressures

of life begin

pressing

down on me,

closing in on me.

Although I lack

the very motivation

to continue

pressing on,

open up

and let peace in.

I need stillness

to overtake me;

I need the world

to slow its pace,

like the snowflakes

cascading at my doorstop.

The only thing

keeping me going

is the will to carry on

and it’s fading fast,

melting snow with

the heat of stress.
