I awake at the dawn of a new day
but instead of getting out of bed
I tuck my head back below the covers
and put the snooze button on.
I’m frozen under the sheets,
immobile in the world that
doesn’t wait to keep spinning along
regardless of my inactivity.
I said I would change the world
but my life has spiraled out of control
and I’ve lost my center of gravity
when its weight toppled me.
I’ve let the days stack against me
because I’m stuck in reverse;
I watch life pass on by me
from the comfort of my bed.
