I sing of the poet, the optimistic man,
Known to the world of literature as Walt Whitman,
Pioneered the simple and prosaic way,
To express thoughts in words, to say.
Well-known for “Song of Myself”, his longest poem,
The gem he was, still remains a gem,
Upheld the value of democracy,
Going ever against all sorts of slavery.
He got love from all, he got admiration,
And was duly called the poet of the nation.
