I let you into one corner.
And I let her into a corner over there.
I let someone else peek in through the window.
And a girl I know crawled underneath the stairs.
But no one’s ever seen the whole house.
With so many different rooms on several floors.
And no one’s ever been locked inside.
No one’s ever tried to unlock certain doors.
Nobody knows me.
Nobody really understands.
Nobody’s been to the top of the mountain.
Nobody’s sifted through the desert sands.
Nobody’s drowned in the waters.
Nobody dances to the sacred tune.
Nobody’s cried about the scars on the wrists.
Nobody’s seen the dark side of the moon.
I’ve loved somebody who hated me.
I’ve loved somebody who made me insane.
I’ve loved somebody way too young for me.
And I’ve loved someone who caused me lots of pain.
But I’ve never loved anyone who truly knew
the fork in the road on the path near the shade.
And I’ve never had time to hesitate
before the stars in the sky all started to fade.
Wow... awesome new poem. I think I like the 3rd stanza best. I can relate, somewhat. Great poem, keep up the good work!
