There was I, thinking I was complete
When into my life
a perfect stranger walked
and suddenly, I was surprised.
Surprised;
that I was not complete,
surprised;
that joy reached new heights,
surprised;
that depths in me were opened up,
surprised;
that romance could be so sensual and exhilarating
This stranger seemed to know
So much
Instinctively
How to respond with a smile
Or a laugh
When to listen carefully
Or to cry.
Surprised;
freedom and joy became possible,
Surprised;
freedom could be within reach
surprised;
romance could be free,
surprised;
sensuality could be shared.
Did this stranger know
what joy lay in store,
what passion would be enjoyed:
that freedom can be shared.
