(or Goddess Part 2)
gossip is the daily bread
this soapy saga chapter's dead
another media head
another face from the photographs
the assistants had the last laugh
a real long time ago
assisted suicide
the paper should read
several million
wanted in connection
with pushing someone
over the edge
over the edge
the top suspects,
the people on the couch
headed by the t/v pundit
but that article will never be written over the gossip section
and pure truth gets a short clip or nothing
...usually nothing but body bags
live with yourselves while you can
i know you can't
you know what i mean...
gossip is the daily bread
this soapy saga chapter's dead
another media head
place this face amidst the mocking album
the assistants had the last laugh
a real long time ago
assisted suicide
the paper should read
several million
wanted in connection
with pushing someone
over the edge
over the edge
the top suspects,
the people on the couch
headed by the t/v pundit
but that article will never be written over the gossip section
and pure truth gets a short clip or nothing
...usually nothing but body bags
live with yourselves while you can
i know you can't
you know what i mean...
never reached out to help(hit off the switch)
only obsessed
with digging dirt...(digging the grave)
another clue's been left
this soapy saga book has bled
another printed on your hands
another face for your dark room collection
a little message to the one on the stage,
and to the one out in the stands:
get out of the spotlight
and don't follow that one into the night..
if you don't want to live your life,
at least let others live theirs..
(guilty is the one who's seen the road ahead,
and continues down that path)
Hi, I really liked this poem a LOT, excellently written.
I don't watch TV any more, nor watch or read gossip columns, but I could relate to all that you said. I don't have time right now to go through all of your lines but I will say that sometimes it's just not always that easy, if possible at all, to "get out of the spotlight", and I don't think it's always a case of "guilty is the one who's seen the road ahead, and continues down that path", but here I am relating to my own personal current situation.
Great work, maybe sometime I'll get the time to read more of your pieces.
Take care, and have a good day (I probably will!),
