vanessa's believed in god

and i have and still do

and i've friends who're friends of devils                                  

but my friends i love most



i can't side with heaven,                    

and i can't side with hell

cause angels took her away

and devils sent her off



awol husband and stuck with cancer

money for pharmasuticals

and nurses that laughed at her

..at the depth of her concern



as nessa laid in sicknes

family prayed with hope

and i sat there in the wake

that god and the devil cohost



couldn't side with heaven,

and couldn't side with hell

cause angels took her away

and devils sent her off



life is filled with justice

laws applied by some

loopholes and nooses

are made of the same string



so one friend'll side with heaven

and one friend'll side with hell

cause one place gives her shelter

and one place keeps him warm

he'd rather hate then feel nothing

she'd rather wait then deal with this

but i can't side with heaven,

and i can't side with hell

cause angels take them away

and devils send them off

cause everybodies chose a side

or is sitting on a fence



i tried to speak up, help bring them together

but today i just keep to myself
