a leaf leaves
the summer behind
and it's tree
to sky dive
then land upon
a children's slide and play
i saw one do it
yesterday, and
i woke up today
to find it exhausted
resting comfortably
with quite a few friends
in pile at the foot
of the sloping chute
what a blast they must have had
spent, now,
and I imagine
a last thrill
for them this year
you know, with no
children of my own
and few visitors
bringing kids along
i've wondered,
for so long
if this slide had a use at all
now I know
as I smirk
looking down
at those leaves exhausted
sipping my hot coffee
quietly, and
without a disturbing crunch
i let them rest and get back to work
what a blast they must have had
beautiful empathy.. your
beautiful empathy..
your words remind me
that I often miss coffee
