No Wind At Your Back

You have set sail for tomorrow
Only to find the wind is still
Air doesn't hear restless sundial
Draped in starlight's edgeless shadows
Yelling "Don't sleep on this moment,
I'll soon again be on the move!"
Or perhaps it's just so stoic
Perhaps you're so confused

The night has a crippling effect
On the indecisive
During the quietest of hours
You only want it to last
Forever
Till you pull down from the mast
That cloth sail
And stay under it's covers
Well past noon

As the sundial betrays, like clockwork,
The minutes of your life that are killed
And keeps it's promise that was screamed out
But only sounded like a silent evening
To the absent wind - A vessel to you
No wind at your back, you remember
No wind at your back is not something,
Though,
You want written on your gravestone
Still, for a moment you lean against the fact
The wind will knock it over,
Eventually, anyway

And one last truth here, to swallow

- Are you ready for it?

The truth of the matter is - take a moment

Cause the truth is

Tonight can't be like last night,

It's gotta

Be like tomorrow

And you are me
