There once was a pitiful princess who fell in love with a perfect prince while attending a royal ball. The only problem was that the prince never once acknowledged her. Every second week it was the same thing the princess would go the ball but he never once looked at her not even to just say good evening. The princess became upset at the fact that she knew that she wasn't good enough for him once so ever. She knew she wasn't as pretty as the other princesses and that she was different. One day there was a wedding over at the palace in the next town a prince and princess were to be married on this day. The princess went to the wedding to find out that the prince was also there. Maybe this was fate maybe this was the time to talk to him but she didn't know what to do. The princess began to panic once the vows had been exchanged, she knew that soon everyone would leave and she would miss her chance. The princess then thought of an idea she would accidentally bump in to the prince. The princess walked near the prince and bumped into him. The prince looked over but didn't say anything. The princess once again casually passed by the prince and hit him again. The prince looked at her and didn't have a clue on what was going on. After a couple more times the prince realized that the princess must have liked him a lot but the only thing was she was to different to welcome into his palace with open arms. He decided that instead that they would be friends. Every day the two would enjoy each others company for lunch and every weekend they would walk in the garden and talk. As time passed the prince realized that maybe he liked her same as she liked him. The prince decided that he would call an engagement on; he sent a horse and carriage to her palace asking for her hand in marriage. The princess glowed with joy but didn't know what to think of the engagement. What would his family, royal court, or even his friends think? She was not like any one the prince had proposed to before. Her hair wasn't as long or as silky as the others and her eyes didn't sparkle under the starry night. The princess knew that her palace wasn't as beautiful and as huge and the prince's. She knew that he could horse back, swim, and even ballroom dance better than she could. The princess also knew that the prince would soon be going across the sea for a while to further his skills even more. The princess sent a message back to the prince accepting the engagement even with the thoughts she had. The engagement lasted what seemed forever but a wedding date was never set. The kingdom began to wonder if the two would ever marry or if the prince only admired the princess and did not love her. The time had come and the prince was getting ready for his journey ahead of him. He was to study the many cultures across the sea for the next year. The prince would of course be able to write to the princess but they would not meet again for a year. As the prince packed his things and said his goodbyes the princess ran off in tears, how could she watch the one she loves go away? It seemed like their relationship had just begun that just yesterday she had bumped into him. While the prince rode off to his ship, the princess sat in the garden alone looking in to the lake to see her crying reflection. The prince would meet new and exciting people, princesses, princes, and others of the royal court on his journey, people that would be more worthy than her. She knew that every moment he was away was a moment he spent with some other princess. The princess was sure that the other princesses he would meet would have fair skin, long silky hair, and smiles so sweet. They would be ten times better than she could ever be and the prince would jump at the chance to be with someone so beautiful and not so different like her. Days, weeks and months passed and everyday the prince wrote a letter to the princess saying that she was the only one for him. Even with the prince reassuring her she still was in tears how much long would she have to be with out him. How many more days would she sit in the garden alone. And how many other women or princesses has he courted. As the question lingered thought her mind the princess overheard a couple of servants mention the prince and a princess that he admired across the sea. As time passed, the rumor progressed about the prince being in love and enjoying his time away. Everyone in the royal court looked at the princess as bring pathetic and worthless to the palace they had all agreed to reveal the princess of the engagement that her and the prince had. The court told the princess of there decision and that she was to leave the palace at once. The Princess left the palace never looking back once; she knew that she would never be good enough for the perfect prince. Everyday the prince's letters would arrive and everyday the members of the royal court discarded them. A month had passed and the princess had still thought of the prince and how much she loved him. She would do anything to see the prince's hazel eyes, his dusty brown hair, even his innocent smile again. As the princess sat beside a lake she skipped a stone into the water. The water swirled around a mystical form of a woman. The woman was made of water yet looked solid like crystal. The woman introduced herself as Airi, the witch of the waters. Airi noticed that the princess was crying and asked why; the princess replied that she missed the one that she loved dearly and that she wished to see him again. The water witch said that she could have but one wish to do as she pleases… a wish for wealth, beauty, smarts, anything her heart desires…but with a wish there must be consequences, if she made a wish she would have to be willing to give something up. The princess asked what she would have to give up but Airi refused to tell her what it was. The princess thought it over for a moment, she thought about the times the prince kissed her forehead to comfort her, or the times he held her so close. She knew this is what she wanted to see the prince again to be with him. The princess looked at the witch and fell on her knees I would do anything to see the prince just one more time to tell him that she loved him. Airi looked at the princess then it is done tonight walk to the center of the lake and twirl around three times on the third time say the word lufi-tip and when you wake up in the morning your wish will be. The witch disappeared into the water while chanting, lufitip. That night the princess did exactly what the witch told her to she walked into the water and stood exactly in the center of the lake then she twirled around three times and said the word LUFITIP! Nothing happen… the princess fell on her knees what could I have done wrong what did I miss she thought. The princess then fell asleep to wake up the next morning in the arms of the prince. He looked at her and said that he would never leave her again and that she would be the one he'd marry. Princess couldn't believe any of it, it was to perfect to be true everything was exactly how she wanted it. She was back in the palace, she was accept into the court with welcoming arms, and the wedding date was soon to come in one weeks time she would become his bride. Airi, the witch of the waters, sat on the frozen water looking at the princess's body that was incased in ice. I told you a price had to be paid in exchange for your wish. You may have everything you want in your dreams of a perfect life with the prince but in one weeks time you will die. That is my price your life for a dreams you crave. The princess was oblivious to the witch's demand she was to happy in her fantasy world to even think about the consequences of her wish. While the princess continued to live her dreams the prince finally returned home in the real world. He was shocked to hear about the princess's sudden dismissal in the palace. The prince did not fall in love over sea and he did not wanted to marry anyone but the princess that was home, the very princess that his royal court called pitiful. The prince said that she may be different and she may not look like the other princesses around the world but this was the one woman he could be himself with. The prince told the royal court that he had to find the princess and tell her that she was the only one but he had no clue where to start his search for her. The prince set off on a journey to find her, he began with her palace but her mother told him that she hasn't been home for some time. The prince searched near and far for the princess, he did not sleep nor waste a second not looking for her. When the prince had almost given up he went to a nearby lake to think. The prince was stunned to see the lake frozen over with ice but to his surprise he saw the princess in the center of the lake in an ice sleep. He slowly walked across the ice to the princess's body. The prince looked through the ice at the princess… I never thought that you weren't good enough for me or that I was perfect. I always thought that you were beautiful in my eyes. Your eyes may not have the starry night in them but they have the sunny day. Your hair may not be as silky but that is because your skin cannot be any softer. My heart has always belonged to you. At that moment Airi appeared next to the prince. Do you wish to save her? Do you wish to relieve her of her ice death? She made a wish to be with you and that she is, in her dreams… her price for her wish was her life. Are you willing to give up something to make a wish? The prince looked at the princess's body so stiff and cold. I would give up anything to be with her to save her life. Airi smiled and rubbed the prince's cheek your price for her life is your own. You must be willing to die for her. Of course the prince said with nobility….but that is not all Airi continued, you will also have to willing to be forgotten. She will forget everything, everyone will it will be as if you were never born. The prince stood in fear of being forgotten….I would have to give up everything to save her he thought. The prince looked at the princess in her frozen prison then turned to the water witch, Airi. I love her and would do anything for her when I was across the sea all I could think of was her, all I could dream of was her, I love her. Airi smiled, so is this your wish? Are you ready to have never been? If this is so repeat this word when you go to sleep tonight… LUFITIP! Airi then disappeared in a mist. The prince sat by the frozen princess' side. What I would do just to hold you again to tell you how much I care for you before I am forgotten. The prince took off his engagement ring and placed it on a silver chain in which he placed ontop of the iced princess. He then laid next to the princess on the ice and repeat the word Airi told him to…. LUFITIP…. The night had passed and Airi emerged from the lake that was now unfrozen. At the bottom of the lake she saw prince encase in the ice and smiled… Now you belong to me and can never escape I am the only one you knows of you and the only one who will. You will forever be in a deep ice sleep, you will be able to listen but never speak, feel but never touch, you will be dead to the world. Airi blew him a kiss as she sat on a rock near the lake. Time had passed and the princess continued her life never knowing of what she shared with the prince. The only thing that was left from the prince was the silver necklace with his engagement ring that laid on her neck. The princess didn't know what the necklace or ring meant but refuse to dispose of it because she felt connected somehow to it. One day when the princess was at her palace her mother told her she would have to marry so that she could one day take the thrown. The princess' mother then introduced a prince from a distant palace he was tall, smart and very much like the princess. The princess bowed to show respect then walked away telling her mother she wanted to marry for love and not the crown. The princess decide to go for a walk in the village to clear her head as she walked she heard of a royal ball that was being held that night in a palace not to far from where she was. The ball was an engagement party that was being held for a young princess and a prince, everyone who was anyone would attend. The princess put on her best gown and went to the royal engagement ball but when she got there she felt awkward. She looked around and everything looked familiar but at the same time she had never seen this palace before. What the princess didn't know what that she was in the very palace of her forgotten prince and that the princess who was engaged was his younger sister. His younger sister was so happy for the engagement and everyone was happy for her. People danced and laugh and smiled but the princess just sat on the side feeling like something was missing, something wasn't right. The princess left the party and walked out to the garden to think of any reason why she wasn't happy with her life. Her mother and the prince she expected her to marry and even the royal engagement that she couldn't be happy for. The princess just then saw a beautiful lake that was surrounded by the flower of love, Forget Me Nots. She was so amazed at the beauty of the lake that she sat down by it and watched the full moon. I wonder if I will ever be as happy as that girl, I wonder if I will ever be in love, to be happy. Beneath the water the frozen prince could hear every word; a tear fell from his eyes. The princess left and went back home to only think about the happiness she would never have. Her mother walked into her room to make the announcement of her engagement the very prince she walked out on. The princess argued that it was fair until she began to cry and her mother left the room in a storm. The princess was to marry within the month, because of her father's illness that would soon take his life. Everyday she would visit her father by his bedside to comfort him and every night she would sneak out of the palace and go to her secret garden. On the night of her pre wedding party the princess' father passed away. The princess couldn't stand to be in the palace so she ran off the lake and cried. As the princess laid across the ground in her beautiful gown Airi, the water witch, stood behind a tree and watched. The princess then looked at her reflection and felt a déjà vu. Why though? Why did she have this felt? The princess thought while fiddling with the silver chain around her neck. She then took it off and began to inspect the ring that was on it. For as long as I can remember I've wore this but why? What does it mean to me? And this ring it's too big to mine, but big enough to be a man's. As the princess looked at the ring she saw that it was engrave and tried to read the name off of it. Just as she read the name her fiancé walked up behind her and asked if she was alright…she dropped the ring into the lake. The princess reassured her fiancé that she was fine. The princess told him that she wanted to be alone and would see him later in the night. The fiancé walked away and hide behind a bush nearby. The princess looked at the lake trying to see if she could find where the ring had fallen but she couldn't see. She then put her hand in the lake to try and feel if the ring was at the bottom but the lake seemed deeper than it was suppose to be. The princess closed her eyes and dived into the water knowing that she wasn't a great swimmer but could swim if she needed to. She looked at the water that surrounded her as she swam to the bottom, the lake seem to be deep and felt like it would go on forever until she saw something shining at the bottom. The princess went towards the glowing object which turned out to be the ring. As the princess was submerged under water her fiancé looked at the lake but could only see what was about a couple feet before the ground. He could believe that the princess just dived into the lake that he could easily stand in and only cover his waist. At the bottom of the lake the princess saw the prince in the ice but just as she went to see the man she realized that she needed air and had to swim to the surface. The princess got out of the water to see her fiancé looking in amazement. How did you? What happened? The fiancé held the princess to warm her up from the chilling water she was in. I'm fine I just fell in by accident. Her fiancé took her back to the palace to change out of her wet clothes. The fiancé looked at her and then asked her that he was happy of the arrangement but why wasn't she? The princess kissed his cheek and told him that tomorrow it wouldn't matter. The princess looked off her balcony wondering if she really saw a man in the water or if her eyes were playing tricks on her. She then told herself that she would find out tomorrow when she went back to the lake. The next morning the princess got dressed and ran to the lake once again Airi hid from the princess. The princess dived once again into the lake and swam to the bottom this time she didn't waste anytime. Just then she saw it… the man… the prince… the ice. She looked at him, but didn't know who he was. He face looked so kind yet so sad. On the surface Airi looked into the water to see what the princess was doing but couldn't understand how the princess could see him at all. Just as the princess returned to the surface she then materialize into the water. The princess then went back to the prince in the ice. As the princess looked at him she touched the ice that held him prisoner. The ring around her neck began to glow as so the ring that the prince held in his hand, her engagement ring. Why do I feel like I know you the princes thought as a tear fell down his cheek. The princess once again went up for air and then went under the water again this time kissing the prince through the ice at that moment she remembered everything the walks, the engagement, the witch. Airi appeared in front of the princess what have you done…. How can you see him how can you be here? Airi then saw the ring around her neck. He belongs to me now I have claimed him. He made a promise when he wished to save your life that faithful night. Airi held the princess by her throat trying to kill her. The princess gasped for air and struggled to get away from her but couldn't. The princess' eyes became blurry as she slowly began to die. The ice around the prince started to crack and the princess could see this but as soon as he was free she died. The prince's eyes opened and grabbed the princess and swam towards the surface. NO! You belong to me Airi screamed beneath the water. Airi's scream sounded an echo throughout the water. She then started throwing iced spares at the prince and the unconscious princess beneath his arm. The prince dodged the spares and began to swim faster and faster to reach the surface just when he was so close the witch of the water, Airi, grew tentacles and grabbed a hold on to the prince's legs pulling him down even further. The prince held on to the princess' hand with all he could. He felt dizzy and started to black out when thoughts rushed through his mind; this couldn't be it, this can't be how it ends, but what can he do? The prince let go of the princess and continued to struggle with the last bit of strength he had. The princess' body floated to the surface of the water where her fiancé was. Her fiancé pulled her out of the water checking to see if she was alright. Airi dragged the prince to the bottom of the lake and held him down with her hair that had turned into tentacles. You will remain with me forever, I will never let you be with her, Airi screamed in anger. As the prince reached unconsciousness a bright light appeared under the water. The light was so bright that the princess' fiancé could see it on the surface. For the first time he could see the depth of the water, the witch of the water's spell was broken. What is that? Sweetheart, are you awake are you ok? The princess' fiancé shook her frantically trying to wake her up. The princess' skin was pale and her lips cold as ice. Beneath the water the bright light appeared as a man. The man looked at Airi with a smile then looked at the prince. Airi I've missed you so, it's been forever since I last saw you. Airi's tentacle vanished in a sparkle as so her crystal like form. Airi was beautiful with long wavy blond hair, crystal blue eyes, and a smile as bright as the sun. The man hugged Airi as if he would never let her go. The man held Airi's hand as they both emerged from the water in a glow of light. The man then looked at the prince as his body floated to the surface beside them. Airi why have you been tormenting this young couple what have they done to you? The fiancé jumped back in fear of the couple standing on the water and the prince that was dead. The man looked at the dead princess as the prince's eyes began to open. The prince tried to run towards the princess but fell into the water. He swam vigorously to the land and told a hold of the pitiful princess. Her fiancé looked at him confused. Who are you? The prince told him that he had loved her and saved her life in exchange for his own and that they were to be married. The prince held the prince close to him and cried…Wake up….Wake up… please don't live me… The fiancé moved back to give the prince room, he realized that he could never love the princess as much as the prince did. As the tears of the prince fell on the princess' gentle cheek her eyes began to flutter. I'll never leave you the princess said to the prince as she regained consciousness. The prince hugged the princess and told her that he loved her and would never leave her side again. Airi began to cry and fell to her knees on the water, I'm so sorry about my actions. I had become bitter waiting for my love who told me to wait at the lake for him. I thought I would never see him again. But I still hoped I would so I waited by the lake everyday for you wishing. As time passed I realized that I no longer a human but a creature of the water with the abilities to grant wishes. Every wish I granted came with a cost for the human but allowed me to live longer and to wait for my love. The Airi's love turned to her and kissed her. I was told that you had left the palace because you no longer wanted to be with me, but now we are together. Airi looked at the princess and prince and said thank you for breaking the spell that was put on her many years ago. Airi and her love then floated to the skies waving at the happy couple on land. The princess stood up as the prince knelled down on the ground, please expect this ring and become my wife, my lover, and always my friend first. The princess kissed the prince and accepted the ring as a token of their love. The princess then turned to her fiancé and kissed his cheek…I am sorry. He then looked her in the eyes and told her that ho would he be to interfere with true love such as there's. He also gave the princess and the prince he's blessing as he walked away. The princess and the prince then walked to his palace to confront his court that had thrown the princess, his fiancée, out. The court realized that no matter what they like or didn't like the two loved each other dearly and would've done anything to be with each other. They accepted the pitiful princess even though she was different. The perfect prince and the pitiful princess married and joined the two palaces into one, a unity, with no one being considered different than the other. The two lived a happy life with the birth of two children one boy and one girl. They named the baby girl Airi in the memory of the witch of the water and the man she love. The baby boy was named after the princess' late father who she loved dearly and who couldn't be with her on her wedding day or so she thought. He might have been with her the whole time.
