“My Forest of Eternal Gloom”   11 – 26 – 02

I awake to cold

A bone-chill

Deafening silence

No wind, trees still

No life in sight

No feeling of love

Surrounded by shadows

No light from above

Under a canvas

So dark and hopeless

Forgotten the feeling

Now harbors remorse

As I walk down the path

A feeling begins to consume

It isn’t one of love

But of desperation and gloom

This is a desolate place

A misplaced forest

Where hope is crushed

And dreams are lost

I come upon a dreary man

Who said he was lost

Forgotten his plan

At such a high cost

As he took this road

A shortcut he thought

And with him all

His hopes he brought

Soon he was lost

Despairing quite fast

To this placed he dropped

No more energy to last

When I look at this man

I see a reflection of myself

What about my own plan

Here I am, stuck, with no help

I am left to wander

In search of light and hope

Somehow I must figure

A way to live, to cope...
