Death

"Enveloped"   10 - 19 - 02

listening for sound

searching for light

hitting the surround

but still no sight

my one desire

is to fill a void

rebuild an empire

that lay destroyed

self esteem in ruin

confidence runs in fear

i amm so alone

with no company near

it is pitch black

no bearing or guides

darkness so thick

you can only hide

from the hope

avoid the salvation

grab the rope and

embrace the temptation

to end it all

to open closed eyes

to see the truth

at the moment of demise

you were so close

but only a breath

no longer alone

accompanied by one...

called Death.

I'm no critic by any means, especially apout "death" poems. They're always so dull and drab and depressing. This is well written and it flows well, but if the author didn't feel he couldn't get it to work, then he shouldn't have submitted it. Car companies, clothing manufacturers and carpenters don't put things out that are not quite working and you're as good as they are, so take some pride in what you do. You have a gift. Don't take it for granted. You're special. Grasp it. Know it, but be thankful for it. Keep writing.
