I've felt a knife tear across my flesh and I think I like sunsets better.
I've been punished enough yet I punish myself more.
I've woken blood stained and hungover.
Yet I drink and bleed again.
Fortune has made my plight singular and passive.
Fate has led me to the ocean where the water stings my blistered fingers.
Albeit, I get up each day
Put on my boots
And walk in the mud,
Smiling.
I've seen sadness and I don't want to see it again.
So please, if you must,
Show me sunsets instead.
"Fate has led me to the ocean
"Fate has led me to the ocean where the water stings my blistered fingers" i love that part :) I often view the ocean as 'life' or the 'world' and the sun as the light that beckons us forward.... very beautiful! thank you for sharing!
