Green-Eyed Boy

I knew once of a man

who thought he could hide,

all his fears and his dreams,

deep within, deep inside.

I knew once of a child,

wild and carefree.

Knowing nothing of

what I could see.

Staring into the black.

I saw past the plan.

And fought the demons

of a green-eyed man.

I knew once of a man,

calm and composed.

Never once breaking frame.

Never scared or exposed.

I knew once of a child

who knew he could fly.

So he spread his arms

and threw his head to the sky.

Staring into the abyss.

I saw past the ploy.

And captured the soul

of a green-eyed boy.

I knew once of a man

who felt nothing but pain.

And that’s why I’m here,

to pull him in from the rain.

I knew once of a child

who let his feelings free.

And he then found happiness

and solace in me.

Staring into the void.

Slowly shifting the sands,

inside the empty heart

of a green-eyed man.

I knew once of an innocence

that shown through the eyes,

of a beautiful man

with childish wiles.

Staring into the being

careful not to destroy,

the love that I’ve found

within the green-eyed boy.
