Nameless

Dark Poetry

You don’t even know me.

You don’t think I’m real.

You’ll believe what you want to.

Your thoughts will remain surreal.

You will go on living,

your happy little dream.

You put on an eternal act.

You’re nothing as you seem.

You will only see me,

as another face in the crowd.

I’ll forever be a blur to you,

a nameless girl around.

You act as if you care for me,

and all the things I do.

You think you have me fooled for sure,

but all along, I knew.

Your dreams and hopes are reality.

Yet me, I always lose.

Even when it comes to you,

my heart still ends up bruised.

You know me as “one of them.”

You think you’ve figured me out.

You’re only looking at stereotypes,

which you claim you’re not about.

You say believe in all these things.

You say believe in you.

But I’ll believe in what I choose,

and that’s something you can’t do.

I wish I could tell you, face to face,

all the things I could never say.

But maybe I am just that nameless girl,

so I’ll keep it locked away.
