DreamRider

within in the misty mystery of midnight
frolics tomorrows uninhibited possibility
arousing restless dreams awake
enticing lingering moments
wherein heartdreams are whispered softly
upon the dewy breath of twilight
as hunger stirs want bewitched
bewildering the constant beat
of a cautious heart
blurring the dimensions between
love’s wax and wane

and for a moment
deep within the earthy aroma
of a breaking dawn
I take pause
wondering if the heart I gave you
still lives tender within
the delicate arc of your soul
unsure of your conviction
and faltering in mine

but then I dismiss any doubt
and continue to ride those dreams
hanging on so tightly
to the renewed
certainty of my own heart
believing real in falling stars
while etching Juliet declarations
upon the promise of a brand new day
