Can you hear in evening twilight
sound of mother softly weeping?
Happy tears of love fall softly
on her baby, sleeping, sleeping.
In his cradle laid her baby,
happy, healthy, lively boy,
sang him lullabies to soothe him'
he who was her pride and joy.
Tired she lay beneath her covers,
never smelled the smoke that rose,
curled around her helpless infant
blanketed in sweet repose.
Fire truck screamed along the highway,
firemen ran the hoses out,
saved the mother from inferno,
Sleeping baby could not shout.
Can you hear in midnight stillness
sound of mother weeping, weeping?
Broken-hearted sobs half-stifled,
for her baby's sleeping, sleeping.
how emotional...you brought tears to my eyes....perfecto
