A Soldier Unknown

He was buried with fanfare, staid bugles and drums,

And honored salute, amongst twenty-one guns.

Unnamed tho‘ revered, ‘midst the proud and the few,

As he’s laid down his life, for the Red, White, and Blue.

His blood shed for freedom, for liberties cause,

Expecting no medals, nor praise or applause.

His name graced no marker, or monument stone,

Anointed forever, a soldier unknown.

On a place of great reverence, of national pride,

A memorial stands, with a few words inscribed;

“Here resting in honor”, so reads the facade,

“An American Soldier, known but to God.” *

Perhaps ‘midst the “rocket’s red glare” you’ll give pause,

Recalling  those fallen for liberties cause,

Who shed their life‘s blood, died for me and for you,

For honor and freedom, the Red White and Blue.

A democracy standing, o’er two-hundred years,

tho’ many times tested,  it still perseveres.

Independence held fast, with the blood of our own,

Thank God for the heroes, those soldiers unknown.

*Inscription on the

Tomb of the Unknown Soldier;

I not much at giving indepth critiques so I will just say: Wonderful tribute Ken to those who gave everything that had to give and only God knows them now.
