The Open Road

When the sun comes up over the open road

And the night fades away behind

I'll have gone a hundred miles by then

Looking for what e're I can find

Leaving loved ones and friends behind

As my life begins again like the day

Though I live and learn and sometimes love

In the morning I'll still go my own way

So don't try to find me, because I'm already gone

I change the rhythm, but I still sing the same old song

On the open road

An 18-wheeler beside me

And my four burning down the road

A suit in the backseat for the business man

And the dreamers with no place to go

Over rivers and deserts or through the woods

Or looking down from a mountainside

All the sights I've seen and endless, carefree dreams

But you know they've no place to hide

In my mind I can still see them

All the things I've seen and done

People I've know, but sill the road's my home

Just a fool trying to chase the sun

No one can bind me.  I'm already caged by the road

Loneliness my cargo, but I'll never mind my load

On the open road

When the sun comes up over the open road

And the night fades away behind

Hopefully I'll have found a dream come true

But if not I'll just keep on trying

I'd like to stay here, but that's something I'll never do

Maybe one day this dreamer will settle down, too

On the open road

This is just so... you. Just remember that this open road has offramps to couches and salsa here and there.
