My journey thru our kitchen remodel----still under construction!!
My kitchen stands in disarray, you'd never believe this mess!
If you've been thru a remodel then you understand the test.
New lights, new wires, new countertops and laminated floor.
Should you think this is enough, please wait, I'll tell you more.
Wainscoting and wallpaper, a bigger window above the sink,
add to that a sliding glass door, too much for me to think.
The room was stripped from top to bottom, everything is gone.
Every day I tell myself, it's ok, it won't be long.
We boxed up all the food and packed away each and every dish.
Whenever I try to make a meal another utensil for, I wish.
How on earth to cook a meal when dishes cannot be found.
I cannot cook a simple egg without my stove around.
Oh! Thats another story...for our stove is gas, you see.
We turned off the gas for just awhile....no hot water. Woe is me!
Now the stove is in the middle or up against another wall.
The fridge is in the corner and then it's near the hall.
I've joined the world of convenience food, in the land of paper plates.
Everything is disarranged, even the salt shaker's lost its mate.
Dare I think we're on our way, since reconstuction has begun?
With the sub-floor done, new windows in and the brand new wires strung?
The cupboards that had disappeared...await soap and sanding too,
Then I will apply the paint --white with a shade of blue.
They wait until the drywall's finished, but that's still a day away,
Meanwhile 'til I have the time, in the garage for now they stay.
Attach the board, apply the tape, spread on a little 'mud'.
After spreading and sanding, two, three times, I'm tried of that crud.
Now, let's move on to priming----yes, every wall in sight,
The room now looks so beautiful, although its primer white.
Roger says, very soon you'll see, it's just a little while.
before you get to try your hand and decorate with style!

Believe me, KAT, NUTHIN' bonds a marriage better than remodeling or wall-papering, unless it's letting HER read the map while HE drives on a rainy night!! I been there; forgive I've been away so long. I'll be better.
"Poe" I'm not, nor "Rich" am I,
but I'll be famous, b'ye and b'ye !
Perfect music for the nerve frazzeling job of redecorating! I love it. I can hardly wait until you find a couple of pics. This is fun.
