Or greed trumps generosity and correctutude. Not a lot of people give away all they have and follow a messiah. Greed, by your credo, cures saddness. The assumotion is poor people are sad - not so. Wisdom dictates keep a sufficiency for you and yours, but charity is acceptable or mandated by most religions.
