Since I was a little kid I remember my father having a lot of watches. I did not understand why he needed so many of them, if all the watches give the same hour. He has all kinds of watches, whether they have golden watchband, silver watchband, or even leather watchband, I can remember wearing a different watch everyday to work. As I grew older I understood that my dad did not have so many watches only to know the time, but as a collection. One time I ask my father about his collection and he told me a story. When my parents where getting married, my grandfather was going to make the last payment of the weeding and he got robbed, so my father had to sell some of his favorite watches in order to pay for the wedding. With the pass of time my mother has tried to make up for the lost watches by giving my father watches of the same model, and so far she has already find three of them. Of those three watches I remember one the most because of an anecdote that happened when my mother was buying that watch. My mother have been saving all of her money to get my dad a rose gold watch because he did not have any watch of that kind, after may years of saving she found one Frederique Constant rose gold watch that she could afford. Two weeks before father’s day (when my mother was going to give him the watch) we went to San Antonio, when we were in the mall we find a watch store. When we enter the first store counter it was a Tag-Heuer rose gold watch, my father like it so much that he was about to buy it but he didn’t because it had the wrong watchband (After the attendant said that my mother and I relaxed). When we where leaving the store the attendant talked to the jeweler and agreed to change the watchband. Finally he bought it, and was so happy with his watch. Then he became happier because of the surprise of getting a second rose gold watch. Through all this time I have realized that this collection is a hobby for him. I think that it is not only the watches that he collects, but also memories that remember how he gets some of them.
