Life down south
was much happier than here
not much money
and a lot more filth
at least the people had eachother
You can say America is the perfect place to live
But I want you to know I disagree
For life without the love for community and family
Is a life for mere wealth and wealth alone.
Down there,
I built a roof
Down there,
I showed children love
Down there,
I learned the importance of love.
Down there,
I helped conserve water
Down there,
I watched families love eachother
Down there,
I learned the true meaning of life.
So many happy people
So many houses built of trash
So many naglected children looking for love
So much joy when they played with a simple rope.
I loved to sit and look around
I saw families sitting on the doorsteps of their homes
I saw conversation, I saw no TV driven blank stares
I saw no lack of love for speech and no lack of love for God.
I helped bring hope for a better life back into a family's hearts
I helped children feel happy and free
I helped them for the good of the world
I helped them form the good inside me
I miss you guys, all my friends
I missed Christine and Chris
I missed talking on the telephone and chattin on the computer
But down there I learned what is important.
The most important thing is love for God and love fore your family and friends.
A roof over your head is nothing if you have no one to share it with
A smile from a small child is nothing if there is no one around to share it with
These things I learned while learning things myself
Things to make me a better person for God
I learned what it is to love and live
I learned the true importance of family and friends
I learned to never take anything for granted.
Your words are so true that they're sad. I've never really experienced anything like that..but at the same time, i know exactly what you're talking about. :)the title intrigued me...but the words about made me cry. It's all so true..
