Abjure

What is a wife? She shares his pain

But for her own;

She's left alone.

What is a wife? For her spouse

She's sacrifice;

no one knows.

What's a wife in life? In bad weather

Service and smiles to

him and his mother

What's a wife? In a global oval office,

Hollywood extra

for the C E Os

What is a wife? A partner for life

He has pleasures;

She, her tasks.

What is a wife? The better half

All is his

Nothing hers.

True and False.

A very fine piece of writing as well as it being a tribute to women. If only more male units would understand that no living thing, be it woman, child, or animal are their possessions, to be owned. Every living thing is a gift, males included. Thank you for sharing this with me.

So very true. The woman of the species is more nurturing by nature, more giving. Us men, through thousands of years of evolution, just take it for granted. Very good piece. Now my mom was different, she always said that my father wore the pants in the family, but she had one leg in those pants...I took it to mean they were equal partners. I have always seen my wife as such and encourged and helped her get her Masters Degree, cause I wanted her to be able to support herself if I passed away. We both work and I help with the household chores...don't ask about the closet doors tho...sore subject. A marriage has to be a partnership with defined roles that can be fluid.
So many cultures see their women as property, but I believe that since woman came from the rib of man she is his equal, not above or below him.

Again, great piece. Well thought out and so observant. To all the women of the world let me say "You are my heros and the wind beneath our wings".

Hugs and Peace

A powerful paradox is form between the title
and the body of this poem;
The Persona in this poem subtly rejects the universal
mentality of viewing woman as a possesion, wether it is
in the 'bush' or in the oval office.
Men and women are equal in God's eyes
Her superiority is in her ability to create by giving birth
and power lies in her grace and feminie beauty.
I hope the whole world reject or 'Abjure' the Myth
of woman as chatel
