Just Being Me

There's people all around

As far as the eye can see

But nobody understands

What its like to be me

I'm hiding inside myself

The real me never shows

All at once I feel trapped

And nobody even knows

I'm locked inside this cage

Dying to be set free

As if an angel sent from Heaven

You somehow found a key

As the real me slowly came out

I wondered how the cage was made

Why did I feel the need

To put up such a facade

Nobody seemed to notice

When I wasn't me one day

So what's the point in being me

If it doesn't matter either way

So I pretended I was someone else

My true thoughts I'd never bare

But I thank you for bringing me out

And all you did was care
