Elegy for Teen Angst

I'm tired of hearing you say,

'You can't judge me!'

Because I can, and I do.

And whether you like it or not

is quite inconsequential

Because much to your dismay,

You judge too.

I'm tired of watching you rebel,

Like I did and like they did before me.

It's been done, and is done.

And worse, your half-assed version

Shames those who put forth effort

They didn't want reactions,

Just an outlet.

Teen angst, consider this your elegy.

Like countless other things today,

You are played out.

You could give up and die like the noble ones,

But knowing you like I do,

You will be around as long as there are teens

Gullible enough to embrace you.

My muse burns the midnight oil apparently... I'm always doing this shit late at night...
