Glass Doesn't Splinter

Glass doesn't splinter and it's a shame

It can only shatter

Shards are sharper than splinters

They mutilate like cascading fire

It's like Blondie said

I've got a heart of glass

And when it breaks

I bleed from my wounds

They are always deep and they always scar

Baggage one might say

Because even when they scar

They still hurt

If only glass splintered

A poke here, a pinch there

But no scars

Splinters don't scar

Broken glass scars

Just take a look at my chest or my back

Look at the glass protruding

That's as deep as can be

Glass doesn't splinter and it's shame

Because it breaks so easily

Left a giant hollow feeling inside me after I read it a few times.
