Never heard of it

didn't even know

what a thyroid was?

"It's butterfly shaped" she said

"and there's two in your neck"

She didn't look like the people I knew with

Cancer

She didn't lose her hair or get really sick

I remember, in the hospital,

when I went to visit her

I wasn't allowed in her room

because it would be a hazard

to Me

they took both her thyroid glands

tired

that's all she was

Taking her thyroid medication

she wishes
