Unconditional Love

New Works (2002-present) Sometimes we hold a love close to heart
that was never ours, not even from the start.
But in friendship true love lies
and with that love in our lives we never really die.
To find these friends is a gift we hold.
We seek and search for someone with whom to grow old.
No other love can touch this treasure chest
by far it exceeds all the rest.
She taught me friendship,
she taught me truth,
she taught me to live,
and she helped me rediscover my forgotten youth.
She brought out the good times when the bad seemed to overload
and she held my hand when I went out of control.
No matter what life may bring us
we have our own, very special trust.
A promise that will live through all the tears
A friendship that will be with me throughout all of my years.
I love you more than you will ever know,
and more than I could begin to show.
Even when we have lost all of our hope to the world above
We will always and forever have this true, unconditional love.
This made me think. Its so true, so many times have i looked to my partner to only have it fail. But friends really are always there for you and sometimes i neglect that love. But in the end it always ends up with them there with their arm on my shoulder or what not. This poem touched me and made me realize what i have. Thanks, and keep up the good work!
