Picturesque

Picturesque

I was challenged

To write a poem

With a title Picturesque.

I wasn’t really sure,

If I were up to the test.

But never backing away,

From a challenge, said I.

I thought, “Okay, give it a try.”

Well here I go

With best of show.

A winter’s night

Moonlight on the snow,

Flickering firelight,

You and me on a throw.

The fire dancing in your eyes,

I hear your soft moaning sighs,

As I stroke your soft skin,

And you succumb to my every whim.

A hoot owl calls out his Who, Who,

At that moment there is only me and you.

The firelight begins to dim

Until there are but embers

The dog comes in and lays between them,

Cuddling for warmth against the cold winter.

Outside, the snow coats with winter’s white,

Sparkling on bush and tree in the lunar light.

A cloud drifts silently by,

As me, you, and the dog, turn in for the night.
