Here I am

Folder:
Remembering 9/11

I just settled into my desk chair

With a nice cup of coffee

        thinking of the day ahead

        then BOOM...here I am dead.

I got to work early

        And my bladder wouldn't wait

I zipped my dress and left the head

        then BOOM...here I am dead.

My mommy dropped me at daycare

And I was playing with the blocks.

I wasn't sure what it was the teacher said,

        then BOOM...here I am dead.

Our worlds ended this day

And some religious fanatic had his way.

With a cowardly attack on innocents

We now exist only in the past tense.

A holy war against innocent people is genocide

And now will turn the world's opinion tide

Against these murderers of the defenseless

May they get their just desserts and may I be a witness.

May these terrorists feel safe and secure in their world

Sitting with their families at dinner

When someone asks "Please pass the bread"

        then BOOM...they are dead.

Author's Notes/Comments:

To the victims of the World Trade Center.  May we all take a moment to reflect that our lives on this planet are finite and the end may come at any moment from any direction and we must be ready to stand before God to explain our lives.
