Did you make the sky?
To take it away
Strip it down
To replace with the night
Did you make night
So we could softly stare
+ lick the stars
So they would disappear.
Did you make the moon
so I could loose myself
completely
to you
Did you make the dawn
to make me miss the black covers
of hidden waiting panting love
+to relish the rays
of hope and expectation
Did you dim the lights
to hide us in the dark
Had to see one more before knocking off for the night, and this one definitely was worth staying up for. Different than the moon poem, yet as powerful, with the astronomical metaphor deftly deployed, as if you had created the very concept. This is a magnificent poem.
