Pieces of You

Plane vanishes on the runway stretch of gray smoke

No smile, my throat dry from the tears I could choke

Broken soul kicking dust, wandered the path not a clue

Life’s puzzle, incomplete, without the pieces of you

Blazing sun shining, blinding no light

Competition so fierce, watching close, but no fight

At the pond cast my line hours pass with no fish

Blow out the candles voices echo, don’t you dare make a wish

Memories fade slowly in my mind nothing clear

No more dreams, restless nights, I awake to the fear

Tired heart stops its beat for the one that withdrew

Life’s puzzle, incomplete, without the pieces of you

Rainbows trace the sky, no colors at all

Tumble down stairs, without taking a fall

A friend, had some laughs but the friendship no trust

Detached, shallow people breaking ties is a must

In a distance hear rumbles, reminds me of thunder

No storm, it’s a plane, taste the tears and I wonder

You walk up beside me, saw your smile and I knew

Life’s puzzle, complete, with the pieces of you.
