THE TREE.

Folder:
War

There is a leafy tree
Whose shady boughs Brought respite,
From Summers sun,
And then it’s Autumn leaves ,
Whence fell.
A coloured quilt to protect,
From winters feathery plight.
Sparkling, we slept beneath it’s snowy down.
Though those who sleep eternal.
Some though not all, nameless .
Have long out grown those shady boughs,
And that too.
That leafy quilt.
For it no longer covers all,
For WAR has swelled our ranks.
No longer lay we hidden neath the tree.

wow...i like it. i don't really get it, but possesses this old, fairytale-esque magic charm. like a story of the long forgotten. and it's great poetry. :)
