We have a harsh society and people do what they must to survive. Most religions implore us not to judge others yet that is what all too many of us do.
I might offer that most
I might offer that most people do what they think will help them survive. Quite often, it seems to me, the effect is null or even the opposite of the expectation.
I have always done what it
I have always done what it takes to survive but hopefully I can be as kind and as compassionate as possible
Your poem reminds me of how
Your poem reminds me of how my faculty advisor, at my college, dismissed my interest in the Whitechapel serial killings by telling me that the lives of five whores were not worth serious historical inquiry. Twenty-four years later, he had to eat those words at a private reunion lunch arranged by the then Chair of our department. The first two lines of your poem reminded me, yet again, that even they have feelings. After all, some of them were among the first followers of Jesus.

On some levels we are all whores. It is tragically part of the human condition.
That is a very succinct
That is a very succinct summary of the human race. Like Wallace Stevens himself, you are---in my opinion---a philosophical poet . Stevens wrote that Poetry should help people to live their lives, and I see your poems as doing that for your readers.
