CARVING FOREHEADS WITH A PLASTIC FORK

Folder:
CHOKE THE CHICKEN

the image of

Abdullah the Butcher

carving someone’s forehead

with a pencil

enters my mind

It makes me realize

how much the kids today

just take for granted

they see a guy

crashing through tables

and swinging barb wire

and they’re bored

they don’t appreciate
Abdullah the Butcher

and the name Killer Kowalski

means nothing to them

Someone had
to be the pioneer

raking a plastic fork

across some fool’s forehead

they shout out,

“Bite him on the ear”

without regard to Bull Curry,

Fred Blassie, the Original Sheik

Or George the Animal Steele

but I have

the memories—

the glorified bloodbaths

of years past

such elegance in mayhem

well, the kids don’t know

but these days

I guess it’s just as well

what a drag it is getting

what a drag it is getting old.  Albert Einstein once famously stated later in his life "the only thing I have against the younger generation is that I'm no longer a part of it."
